Big year for junior golf in the region

While many B.C. junior golfers are getting a start to their season in the Lower Mainland and Okanagan, the Rossland-Trail Country Club will be their desired junior golf tournaments destination come July. The local 18-hole course will be the site of the 2011 B.C. Junior Boys’ Golf Championship July 5 to 8.With that in mind, the Zone 1 West junior golf tour takes on even greater importance this season as area players look to fine tune their game in hopes of competing in the provincial championship on a familiar track.“My feeling is we should pick one of our kids who is an up-and-comer and could gain the most from the experience,” said Papilion. “But that will be discussed as a committee.”The tournament, which will attract the top under-19 players in the province, will also shine a spotlight What Should Hill Do For His PGA Tour on the host track.“The junior event is a great opportunity for the local club,” said Papilion. “It brings huge exposure.“It’s all the best junior golfers in the province. And, as we know, these are the golfers of tomorrow.”

Golf pros give tips to junior golfers

Golf pros give tips to junior golfers

After waiting his turn in line, William Robinson was anxious to take his first cuts at the game of golf. He had watched Champions Tour players Chip Beck and Bobby Clampett hit long, soaring tee shots and watched as the pros had hit a variety of shots with great command. Robinson was surrounded by lots of others who were new to golf Sunday at the Bacot/McCarty Foundation- IP Resort and Spa Junior Clinic at Shell Landing Sunday afternoon. It is a first-year junior golf tournaments event that served to kick off the week of activities for the Champions Tour's Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic to be played at Fallen Oak Golf Club this week. "This is a special day, obviously, the Sunday before tournament week," tournament director Steve Nieman said. "The idea all along was how we could involve Jackson County -- the kids of Jackson County, the businesses of Jackson County -- to really illustrate what we've been talking about all along, which is this isn't just about one town along the Gulf Coast, it's about the entire coast here in Mississippi. Bringing kids in here all from all over Jackson County and with Chip san diego and golf schools and Bobby here, I think the kids are going to have a great day." "I think it's important that we have it over here in Jackson County, both to show our kids over here that maybe hear about the phenomena about the Jolly McCarty Memorial (golf tournament) and all the monies it raises, but also to show that the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic is a Gulf Coast-wide event. It's not just a Harrison County or Fallen Oak event; it's a lot of courses, a lot of professionals, a lot of people coming together to support the game of golf."

Metro League – the state’s best in boys golf will better in 2011

Make no mistake about it, the Metro was very, very good in 2010, with Westview fourth at state, Jesuit seventh, and Westview senior Gabe Robles-Ellis winning a share of the individual state championship. That said, the league ought to be even tougher and more competitive this time around.Perennial power Jesuit — a five-time state champion since 1996 — brings back three players from last year’s varsity and adds a talented junior golf tournaments junior transfer, Southridge returns the Metro’s top two players from 2010 and seems well-positioned to make a run at its first league crown, and the addition of Lincoln — a 2010 state qualifier — adds even more intrigue.“Since I’ve been head coach at Southridge, Jesuit has won Metro League every single year, so they have to be the favorites,” said Southridge coach Scott Baranick. And “with the addition of Lincoln, a solid team with a golf pro as their coach, the Metro League has only gotten tougher.”“I’d have to say that Southridge is the favorite this year,” said Jesuit coach Jay Minsker. “We struggled late last year, and they Webb Wins LPGA Founders Cup were one of the best teams in the state and they didn’t get to go” to state.“Southridge is the best team in the league. Junior golf can iprove your health

Junior golf can iprove your health

Golf combines that exercise, which children may find boring, with a competitive sport that just about anyone can play. It involves strategy that my nine year old picks up on and started to work on the first round. It involves using muscles that kids sometimes forget they have sitting in class then in front of a computer playing video games junior golf tournaments or doing homework. The professionals say that an average of 10,000 steps a day is equal to a healthy active lifestyle, a round of golf (18 holes) takes 11,948 ±1781 steps per 18-hole round of golf. What is another benefit to golf? Golf is a family a game, kids love to play. Ever sit on the bleachers and cheer on your kids wishing you could play too. I tried doing Tae Kwan Do and tennis with my kids both worked out well for a while.  Then I got tired of the bruises from the karate class, so we looked into Golf.  With golf we can play together in a relaxed manner.

Titleist Golf Ball Fitting: distance is important

Titleist Golf Ball Fitting: distance is important

"Distance is king to most consumers," says John Fizer, a member of the East Coast Titleist Performance Golf Ball Fitting team. "Even after we explain to them that all Titleist golf balls are long at all swing speeds, and land within 3-4 yards of each other, many people still think they will hit one 10 yards longer."Differences between models off the driver for Casey Forestalls In Transitions Championship swing speeds ranging from tour players (near 110 mph) down to lower speed players (in the 80s mph) are less than four yards.Game-changing distance is potentially obtainable through physical fitness, swing improvements and club fitting – but not the golf ball that you choose to play.Titleist's green-to-tee methodology is based on the fact that most scoring pub golf rules opportunities are created by shots into the target, and improving your short game will have the most game-changing affects.Whether you are a professional or an amateur, shorter putts go in more often. Hitting the ball closer to the pin with more consistency will lower your score.

How to choose the right Titleist golf balls

How to choose the right Titleist golf balls

Titleist golf balls have been known for many years as ‘The Number 1 Ball in Golf’ and it is true that more tour players across the world use a Titleist ball. Some golfers think that if Ernie Els is playing with a Titleist then they should play with a Titleist pub golf rules as well, however, that is not necessarily the case. Believe it or not in amongst this huge selection there is the right ball for you and the ball you choose to play with needs to suit your requirements and level of skill. If you are a beginner, or lose a lot of golf balls, then buying budget balls is the best thing to do. These are often packaged in 15 ball boxes and are a hard durable ball that will generally go further when you hit them. The draw back of this ball is that it is very lively off of the club face and when it comes Nick Watney Win Golf’s Cadillac Championship to chipping and putting can lack some of the soft feel that some golfers prefer. The harder golf balls such as Topflite XL 3000, or Callaway CB1 are perfect for the golfer who doesn’t lose too many balls but could do with more distance off the tee. These balls are not as hard as the budget type, but are durable and offer some feel around the green although they still won.t stop very quickly on landing.

Make Your Golf Ball a Difference

Make Your Golf Ball a Difference

Not every new ball that comes out can be longer and better than the one before, right? Especially since all are subject to the same U.S. Golf Association limitations on distance and other flight characteristics. But there are lots of ways, Ishii said, to engineer different spin, feel and trajectory combinations so that individual players can find a ball that flies Golf Swing Instruction You Should Know the longest, or otherwise performs the best, for them. For the pros, who know their games so well and hit the ball so consistently, this process is mostly about managing trade-offs.It differs from the standard One Tour D ball only in that it produces a minuscule extra amount of spin around the greens—at the cost of an equally minuscule loss of distance off the tee. "Tiger can tell the difference, because he talks about differences of just a few inches, 6 inches, in how far his short wedge shots go, but not many other people can, even other pros," Ishii said. The third Nike ball pub golf rules used by Tour players, the regular One Tour, has two "custom spec" versions, but to offer all these variations for sale in pro shops would needlessly confuse consumers, Ishii said."Changing balls is much harder than changing clubs," said Anthony Kim, who's been playing the 20IX-S since December. (The 20IX line won't be available in stores until late April.) "With a new driver, that's basically just one shot you have to understand. But a new ball affects all 14 clubs in your bag, and you have to have confidence in how each of those clubs are going to play."

What do you think Titleist victory over Callaway

What do you think Titleist victory over Callaway

Chalk up another win for the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball - this one off the course. In another victory for Titleist parent Acushnet Company in its long-running patent dispute with Callaway Golf, the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences of the United Golf Swing Instruction You Should Know States Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) affirmed the patent examiner’s decision that the claims of four Callaway Golf patents are invalid. The Acushnet Company requested that the PTO reexamine the four patents in January 2006.  Callaway filed a lawsuit in February 2006 asserting that Acushnet’s Titleist Pro V1 golf balls infringed certain claims of those patents.  In March 2010, a jury determined that all four patents were invalid as obvious and anticipated.Callaway, of course, sees things different. The company issued a statement saying it belives the Patent Office "got the decision wrong'' and did not have the authority to decide the validity of the patents."As the federal pub golf rules court in Delaware has already ruled, Acushnet breached its contract with Callaway Golf by asking the Patent Office to reexamine the validity of the patents,'' the statement said. "If necessary, we will appeal the decision to the Federal Circuit.  The validity of the patents is currently being considered independently in the only appropriate forum, the federal court in Delaware, so the decision from the Patent Office does not end the case.”

Different ways to find the nice golf ball

Zach Johnson, who has a locker with his name on it at Augusta National, talked with Titleist representatives before the start of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship about changing from the 2009 version of the Titleist Pro V1x to the Tiger Woods are Making Progress just-released 2011 model.According to Titleist, the dimples on the new Pro V1x are shallower and arranged in a new pattern that helps it fly higher and reach its highest point farther down range. On paper that would be good for Zach because it would make his approach shots come down more vertically and stop faster on the famous greens at Augusta."It's not easy to make a ball change, but I don’t think it's difficult either," Johnson said that day in Marana, Ariz. "I think it's just a matter of practicing with it."Anthony Kim, the player who holds the Masters record for the most birdies made in one round—11 in 2009's second round—has a different approach.Kim, who missed pub golf rules a good portion of the 2010 season due to injury, switched to Nike's 20XI-s ball at the 2010 HSBC Champions in Shanghai last October."I wanted a golf ball that spins around the greens," Kim said recently. So for me, it was just if I could putt with it and the feel I had with the longer putts and how I could spin it around the greens."
